Each national profile looks at a particular ESCWA member country in detail, focusing on: The role of Governments and all Stakeholders; ICT Infrastructure; Access to Information and Knowledge; ICT Capacity Building; Building Confidence and Security in the use of ICTs; Enabling Environment; ICT Applications; Cultural Diversity and Identity; Linguistic Diversity and Local Content; Media; International and Regional Cooperation; Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); and Building the ICT Sector.
The profile compares progress to previous years and describes current and future initiatives. Both quantitative and qualitative indicators are used as well as references to specific localized, national and regional projects, highlighting cooperation between the private sector, public sector and civil society. Public consensus, acceptance and uptake to technologies and trends are also discussed in order to highlight grass-roots initiatives. The report provides a holistic overview of initiatives from a government policy level and perspectives from both institutional and end-user level.
